Quick Update
I had a few minutes before work and wanted to let everyone know that we are doing good! We've been so busy it's crazy!!!
(Happy Birthday Aunt Debbie)
Things have been really busy for me at work and we are trying to get in a lot of family time with Jacob before Madison comes. We went the the Corn Maze in Lincolnton (kackleberryfarms.com). We did a 1/4 of the maze, Jacob rode his 1st ride by himself (Mommy wanted to cry), and we watch some pig races. It was a good day. The Richmond County Fair was here. We took Jacob to it and had a good time. He rode the train all by himself (again I was in a panic). Daddy rode the Carousel and the old cars with him. We had Funnel Cake and Lemonade! On the 30th, my Aunt Debbie and Uncle Dennis were driving through town. Mark and I met them for lunch with my mom. We had a nice visit. It was the 1st time Mark had met them. Last weekend was Halloween and we had a really fully weekend. We all stayed home from school and work on Friday. PaPa and Grandma Brenda came in town. Grandma June and Pa Pa brought over Happy Cake so that made Jacob's night on Halloween. He was Buzz Lightyear and very excited about going to doors and people giving him suckers! I think he could have cared less if they gave him any other type of candy, the suckers were what he was out there for! It was fun watching the Gators stomp Georgia! Mark and my dad shared a moment at the German Butcher here in Augusta. They are both in love with that store now.
Yesterday Mark and his dad expanded the spare bedroom (Jacob's Big Boy Room) closet and it looks great! We went to pick out a new bed sheet and comforter set and new paint for his room last night.. Jacob chose a Cars theme (big surprise right?). He was going for Thomas the Train but at the last minute he switched over. He's doing so good with potty training lately. We are almost to the point of letting him go Pull Up-Less to get the final transition done. Jacob wants to give his diapers to the babies that need them.
As far as my pregnancy goes, things are going good. We went back to the specialist on the 16th and got a good checkup. Her kidneys are better and we were released from going back unless my regular OB thinks I need to return for some reason. We are praying that he doesn't find one. I have an Ultrasound picture or two of her face I need to post. I'm in my 3rd trimester now! I can't believe how time is flying. We are 99.8% sure that our baby girl will be Madison Dale Peters. We'd like to keep the MDP/JDP tradition going.
I'll put some of the updates I received on my progress through the weeks below. I hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm working today. Next weekend we're going to a Wiggles Concert! I have to work that next Saturday and then it's Thanksgiving and then December!
26 Weeks
The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum - a trip that will take two to three days.
27 Weeks
This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning - with a lot of medical help - if she were born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle
28 weeks
By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14..8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can open and close her eyes, which now sport lashes. This movement is more of a reflexive blink than a deliberate opening and closing, but it won't be long before she's batting those beauties at you.
29 weeks (This Week)
Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day.
