We had the best weekend. After work on Friday the boys picked me up and we headed to the beach. I got kind of worried when we stopped for dinner and had the WORST BBQ on the planet. Ugh! We got to Charleston around 8:30pm. Jacob broke my heart when we got out of the car he said "I see Pa Pa" (my dad-"Pop Ah") then he said something to the effect of "This Pa Pa's house". Poor little guy, since our trip to Green Bay I guess he figures Pa Pa lives in a hotel. He said it a couple more times during the weekend but Mark kept telling him that Pa Pa was far away.
On Saturday morning we got up and ate breakfast at the hotel and headed to the USS Yorktown. Jacob's Pa Pa (Mark's Dad-"Paw Paw") was stationed on it when he was in the Navy. I can't stand being on those things. I get too claustrophobic and feel like yakking the whole time. It was fun though and I have to say that me and my tummy were troopers. There were steep steps and we went through the living quarters and the flight deck. I'm glad I found an elevator! After the Yorktown we went to lunch at Bubba Gump's. It was fun. Jacob got a drink that had a spider ring on it and when he went to grab the straw he grabbed the spider and almost had a heart attack! I wish I took a picture of his face. After he realized it was fake he loved it. We headed to the beach after a quick nap and Jacob was a fish! He had no fear of the water and loved the waves and seashells. A little girl had some starfish she found in a bucket next to our blanket and she got them out so they could dry out. Jacob went over and picked one up after seeing no one else was scared. That night we went for ice cream out on the Isle of Palms and Jacob saw a star and started singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star....it was a full and wonderful day.
Yesterday, Mark and I celebrated our 6th anniversary. The boys didn't wake up to after 9am! We went down to the City Market and got a picture of Charleston for our living room and then ate at the Noisy Oyster. It was a typical beach type restaurant but the prices were reasonable and the food was good. Jacob ate his first steamed oyster! He made Mommy proud! We left Charleston after lunch and made it back to Augusta around 4:30. We are all tired and need a day of rest but we must start the week!
I'm adding a picture I took from my camera of the boys on the Yorktown. I will upload my camera pictures this week and put them on the photo site.
24 Weeks: Again it says he but we all know we are having a girl =)
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
